a thank you. and.... dio - dennis- art - gary - memorial day and putting things off.

i'm not quite sure what i want to say in this post but i have the desire so write. i hate doing stuff like this at times due to my sometimes superstitious nature of "omg if i do that does it mean i'm gonna die?"

a lot of deaths have happened this week and today we reflect on those who gave their lives so we can live better.

this year i've personally had a few people very close to me die. all of which were sudden. one from suicide who was a life long friend. one from a brain hemorrhage one due to undiagnosed stomach cancer. those were the most recent.

i was just in my back yard reading the memorial program from ronnie james dio's funeral a friend gave me who attended (gave me to read). i wasn't a fan and yet i sat captivated for the last 20 minutes reading what an impact he had on so many people who's letters to him were in the program. the one from lars ulrich of metalica made me cry. he said "i wanted to call you and sorta pussied out cuz i felt the last thing you needed was to think about returning a call from me. i wish now i had."

this was written by a person ronnie considered a friend and business associate. it made me cry, his whole letter was so vulnerable.

i thought of "unfinished business" i have with people in personal relationships and business matters too actually. the arrogance of man is we will always have "tomorrow". we won't and don't.

i tend to put off "hard things" especially if it's emotionally "uncomfortable".  for some reason reading ronnie's program, coupled with the deaths this week of so many notable people, mixed with this year's' personal deaths to memorial day i'm thinking a bit more about things "i don't want to think about."

i met dennis hopper once at a concert my then best friend was doing. he was funny, mysterious, handsome and captivating and very sweet. my friend and i lost touch over now what seems like a very trivial matter. i know she'll be at dennis' service. will i write her because i'm feeling moved now or will i think i "should" until god forbid i get a call one day to find she's passed? i don't know what i will do but now i'm thinking i could. will i or will i let that moment pass and will i choose to NOT do it and let myself be distracted by,  oh a bazillion or so things only to one day say... "oh i meant to."

of course i have many reasons i've NOT written her or called. we all have our reasons. are they worth it should we lose the opportunity to "make that call" forever?

i miss my friends who passed. my relatives. i have no regrets there. but i do have some "unfinished business" with some folks AND also just miss some people who "if" i were to lose them, i'd regret not letting them know how much they mean to me.

being involved a "tiny" bit in RFL and other things in SL where i've learned of people dying too brings the reality of "here today gone tomorrow" into a sobering perspective for me at this moment.

usually i let these moments slip away planning on thinking about them later. today i stopped, excused myself and am writing this "staying in this moment" rather than eating more shrimp and bruscetta (a little memorial day feast going on here atm).

now that i got that all out, i think i will continue and write my old friend that i love and miss terribly. then i may also write a few other people.

and in closing, thanks to all of you who make my secondlife memorable. everyone i meet impacts me in some way. i've far too many blessings to count them all in this post as far as people in SL. but truly, thank you. even those i've never met, i may have heard about you, what you do, how you impact others, how kind you are, helpful, challenging, artistic, and more. i'm smiling now thinking of just what a vast pool of amazing people are in community. and this weekend a few of us had some really fun times too at an impromptu 2 night "fashion on the farm" party. haha, what fun that was. more memories.

that makes closing this post a bit less heavy and so thank you all for that and now i'm gonna continue on and reach out to a few people and stay in this moment i can feel myself fighting to "put off".

ICON MAGAZINE - worth the wait

over a year ago i was asked by ICON magazine to be on their cover. actually they weren't even a magazine yet and i was asked if i'd want to be the first person to appear on the cover. after some chats with them about what kind of magazine it would be, etc. i agreed. their concept changed during their planning and so i was going to be the second or 3rd cover...

then i got busy... they got busy...  and finally this may i have the honor of being in icon magazine. it's really timely and special to me for a few reasons and one reason i didn't know about until the magazine came out and i read the publishers note from Wil Dreadlow. I grew to really admire and respect Wil since the day we first spoke and even though our interactions were limited, i admired him as a person. we spoke about the cover and what ideas for it, and of course i couldn't think of "one" look i wanted so i said, "hey what about if we did 2 covers!" he agreed.

the process of choosing the "looks" for the cover was challenging for me as i like so many looks and have a hard time picking one thing in anything. (don't even ask about ordering at a restaurant with a large menu!)

in the end the creative process took over, (yay for that) and these are the 2 covers that came out of it. I had the honor of working with SC Tracy for the cover and inside spreads and I learned a lot, was challenged, and in the end, i'm pretty happy with the outcome. sure now i see things i wish i would have "fixed" on the retouching i did, but i think an artist always looks back on their work and sees things they missed.

oh... the special reason for this magazine? well one was a lot of different people i've met in SL from my closest friends and OLDEST to some new friends appear inside the magazine in a fun spread. another reason was being able to finally debut some things under the "nekoture" brand i've been working on for 3 years (as time permits) and also wearing new "makeover™" makeups i've been working on. then another surprise that made this a bit more poignant. i learned when reading wil's note he was retiring from ICON and SL to tend to RL things so i was the last person to appear on the cover with him as the owner. i will miss him and am thankful i had the honor of meeting him. he's a great man.

barnes and i had a great time on the designing world show talking about our pet homes n stuff. it was a rocky start due to SL issues... (i know huh?? can u believe it???) but in the end we had a FABULOUS time!

thank you SO much to all of you who wait SOO patiently to see us and hear BARNES SPEAK!! i know cool huh???

we had a FABULOUS response and it was SO much fun to hear from so many of you in IM!! hahaha. i tried to say hi to as many of you as possible but it was hard hahah.

"THE PAMPERED PET COMPANY" live today on treet tv!!!

today at 2pm sl time we'll be on tv?? who??? barnes and me! details below!

as some of you know... barnesworth anubis and i started a little venture into "petland" last year when the sion  chickens were clucking away... i wanted to make something "cute" and "stylish" for my chickens, and when barnes saw my "building skills" haha, he agreed to "help out"... our first brand "benedict & florentine" was born, catering to "pampered pets" with a focus on the fun chickens.

later in the year we started creating habitats and environments for the Ozimals bunnies, which were released in January under the new line "veLveteen".

folks have taken a liking to our homes from the early chicken days using them for pets of all kinds which was our hope as in SL why put your pets in a normal house when you can put them in anything?

well today we will be featured on the tv show "designing worlds" as part of their home and garden expo. we were so honored they asked us to be on the show! it will be shown live at 2pm SLT and you can view it on our SO CAL sim in the enchanting "velveteen" gardens. (if you come to watch please deprim and de script as much as possible to avoid lag, thanks so much!)

we'll be showing homes for pets of all kinds and touring out exhibit on the HOME EXPO sim. we hope u can watch or stop by during the expo and see the awesome stuff and visit our place!

the show can be viewed live at the exhibit as well at the treet tv exhibit and we'll have gifts for all the people who show up at the viewing station on so as well as the expo!

this one is new i made it today adding the blue fabric to the floral i made long ago. i really love it and the color and the asian symbol on it too.
